Math

My name is Norma O'Quinn and I am a lifelong member of Harnett County.  My husband and I are both former graduates of Western Harnett High School.  I came back to teach for Harnett County in 1995 after I graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Mathematics Education (1994).  I had several wonderful math teachers while I was a student at WHHS and they were the main reason that I chose to go into the field of education.  I have been teaching for 24 years.  My husband and I have been married for 30 years and have 4 children.  My oldest daughter and my son are graduates of NCSU.  We have two younger daughters, who are both students at Western Harnett High School.  I took several years off while my children were very young and enjoyed every minute that I was able to be home with them.  My youngest daughter was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in June of 2016.  She was 6 at the time.  She is currently out of treatment and in remission.

I love teaching math and helping students to see the vast possibilities that a mathematics background could afford them.  In 2019, I was named as Western Harnett High School's Teacher of the year.  In 2006, I was awarded the honor of the North Carolina Teachers of Mathematics Outstanding Secondary Mathematics Teacher for Harnett County.  I have taught all levels of math at WHHS and am currently teaching NC Math 3, NC Math 4, and AP Precaculus.  I am also the Beta Club Sponsor at WHHS.

My contact information is found to the right.  If you ever have any questions, please feel free to contact me via email or phone.
