On Thursday, February 8, 2024, select Harnett Central High School swim team members participated in the 3A State Swim Meet at Triangle Aquatics Center in Cary. Preliminaries were held in the morning leading up to the finals in the evening session. HCHS had two relay teams invited to the preliminaries and two individual swimmers invited for separate individual events.
Ayden Burkhardt participated in the 200-yard freestyle in the preliminaries and advanced to the consolation round of the finals for the 100-yard backstroke. His time of :57.07 is a new school record (beating his own set last year) and placed ninth in the event.
Nolan Walker advanced to the consolation round of the finals for the 50-yard freestyle and finished in tenth place at :22.72. Nolan also advanced to the state final round in the 100-yard breaststroke event. He finished that breaststroke event in second place for the State 3A competition and beat a school record (he set last year) with a time of 1:00.22.
