We are making excellent progress with our daily screening process, but we did not want send out a few reminders this evening.
1. Please make sure that your child's backpack is organized and any unnecessary papers and trash are removed from the backpack.
2. Any 3" inch binders should be in good working order, organized and easily accessible so the binder can quickly be passed around and screened separately. Smaller binders should be in good working order and organized.
3. Band instrument cases should be cleaned out and organized.
4. Cell phones, air pods, general school supplies and other small items should remain in the backpacks at all times.
5. Writing and drawing utensils should be placed in a backpack compartment or in a pouch/box.
6. It will be helpful as students enter the building if they place their backpacks on their front.
Thank you and have a great evening,

Harnett County Early College is excited to announce the opening of their Freshman Application! Please follow their Facebook page or website for more information.

Good Afternoon Parents & Guardians,
We are excited to announce a new security feature at Harnett Central Middle School. Beginning Wednesday, November 1st our students and visitors will be entering through the Evolv Express system during the school day. The Evolv Express is an open-air kiosk that
can identify prohibited items inside bags and pockets in real-time, meaning your child(ren) can walk through the sensors without removing their belongings or separating themselves from personal items. If an item in their possession alarms the system, the system’s green lights turn to red, and a photo of the student will be shown on a tablet with a red box around the potentially prohibited item. A trained staff member will then search the area indicated in the alert. As a reminder weapons of any kind, tobacco products, and vape products are always prohibited on our campuses.
Our mission with this new technology is to ensure that your child’s entry to school is not delayed and that we keep prohibited items off our campuses. The system does see some items as trouble items and they should be removed from bags prior to passing through the system. These items include large 3-ring binders, metal eyeglass cases, and umbrellas. Please visit the Harnett County Schools Facebook page or our school's Facebook page for more information and for videos demonstrating the system.
Thank you and have a great evening,

Thank you, Jamie Hughey, for going above and beyond for our staff, students, and families!

Dear Parents,
In addition to the letter from Dr. Fleming, Superintendent of Harnett County Schools, informing you of the upcoming EOGs, Math 1 EOC, and Extend 1 testing, we are required to inform you that HCMS will utilize roving proctors as well as stationary proctors for the assessments. A roving proctor will be an adult of the faculty, staff, or cleared parent volunteer who will assist the test administrator. The roving proctor will work with no more than three classrooms in close proximity to each other, inside the building only, and will spend about 10 minutes in each room on a rotation schedule. All proctors, roving or stationary, will receive a state mandated training session prior to beginning their shift. This training session is good for the entire testing window, May 26 - June 9. Our school will also utilize faculty, staff, and cleared parent volunteers to monitor the hallways as students use the restroom during the assessments. Please discuss these procedures with your student to make them aware of the situation.
Once students finish their test, they must remain quiet while other students finish. Students will be allowed to have a non textbook such as a magazine or novel they can bring from home at their desk to read after they finish their test. Their backpacks will be away from them in a corner of the classroom. Cell phones, smart watches, regular watches, and other wrist jewelry and electronic devices will be turned in prior to the start of the test. Once everyone is finished, all electronic devices and jewelry will be returned to the student. It is advised devices and jewelry should be left at home on test days.
We need volunteers and welcome your time, if possible. If you would like to volunteer please complete this google form https://forms.gle/ZXGmm6r3jzJNTDj9A to select a day and time you can assist.
Thank you for your continued support of HCMS.
Sincerely,
J. Wesley Sills, Assistant Principal
