Evolv is coming to our school!

We are excited to announce a new security feature at Highland Middle School. Beginning Wednesday, November 8,  our students and visitors will be entering through the Evolv Express system during the school day. The Evolv Express is an open-air kiosk that

can identify prohibited items inside bags and pockets in real-time, meaning your child(ren) can walk through the sensors without removing their belongings or separating themselves from personal items. If an item in their possession alarms the system, the system’s green lights turn to red, and a photo of the student will be shown on a tablet with a red box around the potentially prohibited item. A trained staff member will then search the area indicated in the alert. As a reminder weapons of any kind, tobacco products, and vape products are always prohibited on our campuses.

Our mission with this new technology is to ensure that your child’s entry to school is not delayed and that we keep prohibited items off our campuses.  The system does see some items as trouble items and they should be removed from bags prior to passing through the system.  These items include large 3-ring binders, metal eyeglass cases, and umbrellas.   Please visit the Harnett County Schools Facebook page or our school's Facebook page for more information and for videos demonstrating the system.
