What Happened?
On December 28, 2024, PowerSchool became aware of a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized exfiltration of certain personal information from PowerSchool Student Information System (SIS) environments through one of our community-focused customer support portals, PowerSource.
What Information Was Involved?
For involved individuals, the types of information exfiltrated in the incident included one or more of the following, which varied by person: the individual’s name, contact information, date of birth, limited medical alert information, Social Security Number, and other related information.
Message from Harnett County Schools
PowerSchool is following the Global Notification Process, which means that they will not send individual notifications to people for whom it does not have contact information, such as former students or staff. Anyone who thinks they might have been involved can go to the PowerSchool website and sign up for identity protection and/or credit monitoring.
Anyone can sign up even if they are unsure if their data was breached.
NOTE: The activation code and engagement number below will work for anyone. You MUST sign up by May 30, 2025.
