Harnett County Schools Dual Language teachers expanded their professional toolbox with Dr. Joan Lachance during a professional development seminar last week.
Dr. Lachance is an acclaimed author and Associate Professor of TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She specializes in dual language teacher prep, literacy development and assessment with multilingual learners. She has over 25 publications to include articles, books, technical reports, and curriculum guides.
Our Dual Language teachers learned and further developed skills in effective collaborative planning and co-teaching. Harnett County Schools Dual Language Lead, Carmen Rosado stated that they have already put lesson principles into practice and have gotten feedback from administrators to say that they are already seeing the benefits from this training.
Professional development training gives our educators the opportunity to gain new knowledge, enhance skills, and apply best practices to improve the overall quality of education provided for our children.
We applaud these lifelong learners, and we are grateful for all that they do for our students and families.
