BENHAVEN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL : INSPIRING LEARNERS TO BE LEADERS

Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) 4th and 5th grade students from Benhaven Elementary School took a trip to our nation’s capital.

The trip to Washington D.C. included the US Capitol, The White House, Ford’s Theater and Petersen House. They also toured several monuments including the FDR, MLK, Lincoln, Jefferson, Korean, Vietnam, and WWII monuments.

Senate Gallery Passes allowed them the opportunity to visit the gallery in the House of Representatives.

The students explored the Smithsonian Museums, and ended the trip at Iwo Jima Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery and Mount Vernon.

Dr. Lora Street, principal at Benhaven Elementary School said that the students had a great time and learned a lot from this trip. “My favorite part was seeing the students learn and experience our country's history”.

Our nation’s capital is a living classroom surrounded by stories of courage and discovery. It is a place where our past and present, inspire and shape our future.
