HARNETT COUNTY SCHOOLS FIRST® LEGO® LEAGUE CHALLENGE KICK-OFF

Harnett County Schools FIRST® LEGO® League MASTERPIECESM Challenge Kick-Off

19 teams of Academically/Intellectually Gifted (AIG) students in 4th thru 8th grade gathered last night for the 2023-2024 Harnett County Schools FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge Kick-Off event held at Lillington-Shawtown Elementary School.

FIRST® is an acronym for For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology. The FIRST® LEGO® League program inspires STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Math) learning through discovery and exploration. The FLL Challenge events provide a forum for friendly competition that allow students to apply STEM knowledge while learning teamwork skills and building confidence.

This year’s theme is MASTERPIECESM . FLL students will be challenged to imagine and innovate new ways to create and communicate art across the globe. Coaches will guide their teams through robot design, robot performance, and innovation projects, while maintaining the 6 FLL core values of discovery, innovation, impact, inclusion, teamwork and fun!

We would like to thank our First Lego League mentors Fiona Last-Powell and Sam Last, as well as all our coordinators and coaches for providing this opportunity for our students. We are also grateful for the students, families, administrators, and staff for their participation and support.
