Bright Ideas: THS
BRIGHT IDEAS:

Bright Ideas is a mini grant program funded by the state’s electric cooperatives. It is designed to reward innovative, creative teaching ideas. The education grant program has expanded learning opportunities in North Carolina classrooms by awarding grants to K-12 teachers for innovative, classroom-based projects that would not otherwise be funded.

Thank you to art teacher, Dorothy Ross-Vaughn for collaborating with Agricultural Mechanics and Chemistry classes to bring two amazing opportunities for Triton High School students.

"The Melding of Metal and Art: Sculpting Creativity," will bring together students from the Art Advanced/Proficient and Agricultural Mechanics II classes at our high school to collaboratively design and construct two unique metal sculptures. The metal sculptures will not only serve as a tribute to the creative potential of our students but also provide lasting benefits to our school and community.

“Connecting Chemistry and Clay Through Creativity” is a STEAM project that combines artistry with scientific inquiry. This project will not only enhance our students' understanding of the chemical processes involved in ceramics but also provide them with hands-on experience in creating sculpted slab works of art. Second semester, the Chemistry and Intermediate Visual Arts classes will work side by side learning the chemistry and physical property changes of clay through each stage from start to finish.

We are grateful for the North Carolina electric co-ops and the Bright Ideas program for awarding Triton High School with over $3,000 to bring these ideas to life!
