Tucker Coombs

Christmas came early for Tucker Coombs, a senior at Harnett Central High School and student body president. On December 14th, 2023, he received a notification that he was accepted to attend Harvard University in the fall.

Over 30,000 students from around the world apply to Harvard every year. Tucker is among 692 applicants who have been accepted under the early action program, and he has committed to attend!

Tucker Coombs maintains a 4.38 GPA, is active in politics, and frequently volunteers for the community. He is an advocate for public school education; and is very proud to hail from Harnett County Schools.

He said that being accepted to Harvard has been one of the most humbling experiences of his life. “Looking back, I realize that it was not due to my actions alone but rather the support of this community. I believe it's the support, love, encouragement, and correction from teachers, administrators, family, and friends that contributed to this achievement.”

Coombs intends to pursue a concentration in Government, a passion he discovered several years ago. His advice to peers, especially underclassmen: “Find your passion and chase it with everything you have. Lean on your teachers and school for support, and advocate for yourself, as they genuinely want to see you succeed.”

Congratulations Tucker! We are so proud of you and thank you for being a great example for students. We hope you have a great senior year and wish you the best in everything you do.
