Indianapolis Here We Come!

Aubrey O'Quinn to Compete at National FFA Convention in Indianapolis in October!

During the Prepared Public Speaking Leadership Development Event (LDE), students write and deliver a six to eight-minute speech about a current agriculture-related topic. Aubrey's speech is about the loss of agricultural land to residential and commercial properties in the United States, North Carolina, and Harnett County.

She competed in prepared public speaking at the regional level on May 6th and placed third in the region which qualified her to compete at the state level.

On June 22nd Aubrey presented her speech to a panel of 3 judges who then asked her questions. She was scored based on her manuscript, the presentation of her speech, as well as the responses to questions they had asked her. She was placed into the top four and redid the process with a different panel of judges.

On Thursday, June 23rd she was awarded first place for prepared public speaking, qualifying her to compete for the state at the National level in October.

Aubrey is a rising senior at Western Harnett High School. This upcoming year, she will serve as the FFA chapter president as well as the south central region president.

Congratulations Aubrey! We wish you the best of luck at Nationals!
