School’s soon to be out, but healthy meals are still IN! This summer, we're serving FREE meals to all kids and teens (18 & under) — no registration, no ID, just show up and eat!

Check out this awesome real-life lesson from Ms. Hansen's 2nd Grade Class.
Ms. Hansen's 2nd Grade class learned about plant life cycles in October. They discussed what would happen if they buried a pumpkin for 6 months. They also discussed the trash on the playground and the importance of recycling. They put these two thoughts together and discussed the idea of what would happen if they planted trash for 6 months. The students learned words like "decomposition" and "biodegradable". Students were shocked to see so much trash left and no sign of the pumpkin. Ms. Hansen's 2nd-grade class learned that if we don't recycle, there will be a lot of trash just lying around.

Save the Date

The ECS classes from Erwin Elementary and Triton High School visited Buffaloe Lanes in Erwin to participate in Special Olympics Unified Sports along with their peers. They were able to enjoy bowling and participating in leisure activities in the community. They had a great time on this field trip, where students of all abilities were able to learn, grow, and thrive together. When we embrace and support students with disabilities, we build stronger, more compassionate communities.

We’re pleased to share that our district has partnered with Hazel Health to provide free virtual therapy services for students. This partnership offers students access to therapy appointments during after-school hours, helping to ensure they receive the support they need at a time that works for them. Please refer to the attached flyer for more information. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact our School Counselors or School Social Worker.

4-H Embryology project and a STEAM Challenge
Second grade had a blast with the feathered friends after they hatched in their class incubators. Before leaving for their forever homes, Ms. Hansen's students were tasked with building a house for them. After building the houses out of random classroom materials, the students let them "move in" for a little bit. The students loved this project.

Science Fun
Ms. Barefoot’s 2nd-grade class has been learning how water and wind can change Earth. Students completed a science experiment to enhance their understanding of their reading passage about weather and erosion. Students placed Skittles in a circle on their plate. They then added water to show weathering. Then they used straws and toothpicks as the “wind” to show erosion.

On this day, let's come together to raise awareness and show our commitment to preventing child abuse. Wear your blue and help spread the message of hope for every child's bright future.
Take a photo of yourself rocking your blue and share it on social media using #WearBlueDay2025 and #PCANC. Together, we can create a ripple effect of awareness and action.

Spring Cleaning
Shout out to 5th grade for cleaning up the sidewalk to the playground! They picked up all the rocks and swept. It looks great! We are proud of you for setting an excellent example for the rest of the students on how to take care of our school.

We look forward to seeing you at our "Donuts for Dear Ones" event. Please see the information on the flyer for your child's specific day. Students will enter the cafeteria and go through the breakfast line as usual. The students will join their visitor(s) or take their breakfast to their classrooms to make room for our guests. We ask that our students be finished by 8:15 (tardy bell) so that instruction may begin on time. If you have any questions, please message your child's teacher.

Go Redhawks! We placed 2nd out of 13 teams in the Lego League Competition on Friday, March 21st. The kids were so happy and we are so proud of how hard they worked.
We are also very proud of how they represented us. Thank you Mrs. Raynor and Mrs. Walker for all your hard work.
